Empower your students to grow from experience by exploring their potential
All young people encounter stress and challenges of varying degrees as they mature. They can be dealing with problems ranging from adapting to a new classroom to bullying to low self-image. Add the uncertainties of growing up, and childhood can sometimes be anything but carefree. The ability to thrive despite these challenges arises from resilience.
Resilience gives young people the strength and fortitude to confront the obstacles they are bound to face in life. Our resilience excursions provide your students with opportunities to learn resilience as a skill to carry with them into their futures. Encourage your students to face and accept personal challenges through trust, empathy and teamwork. Inspire them to discover effective coping strategies and strengthen their communication and problem-solving skills. Give your students a taste of all the outdoors has to offer with our single-day resilience excursions.
Canoe along the serene Hawkesbury River, cycle the Lilydale-Warburton Rail Trail, explore the Jarrah Forest of Byford or rock climb in the Lofty Ranges.
Because each young learner is unique, our programming allows for peaks, valleys, turbulence, excitement, periods of calm, and periods of activity. Students move through a sequence of outcome-based activities, prefaced with a briefing, and concluded with a debrief aimed toward self-reflection and recognition of one's own capabilities. This reflection is a vital part of experiential education.
Decision making and problem-solving – a short bushwalking journey requires students to work together to master new skills and navigate their way. They must communicate effectively and are encouraged to support their peer's decisions whilst building their own confidence.
Communication – a series of group activities such as tent set-up wherein communication is vital for success. Students must explore and adapt their communication style, listen to their teammates and implement the teachings of the previous session.
Trust and empathy activities – canoeing or mountain biking challenge students to work together, overcoming obstacles to achieve their personal best. They are encouraged to recognise the abilities of their peers and to support one another.
