DEVELOP LEADERSHIP

In an ever-evolving world, how can we arm young people with the skills required to thrive in a future quite unlike our own? Tomorrow's leaders will require transferable skills like collaboration, communication, empathy and determination in order to thrive and become inspiring and inspired citizens.

Our leadership incursions focus on nurturing and strengthening qualities allowing young people to navigate their lives and make decisions with confidence. Encourage your students to build strong relationships and problem-solve collaboratively. Empower them in understanding their strengths, so they remain calm under pressure and know when to ask for help. Allow them to develop their communication skills and discover the value in persevering. Inspire your students to be courageous leaders, willing to take on any challenge.

AN EXAMPLE OF WHAT'S ON OFFER

Abseil in the scenic Glenworth Valley, canoe along the Yarra River, zipline through Lane Poole Reserve or cycle at Victoria Harbor.

Because each young learner is unique, our programming allows for peaks, valleys, turbulence, excitement, periods of calm, and periods of activity. Students move through a sequence of outcome-based activities, prefaced with a briefing, and concluded with a debrief aimed toward self-reflection and recognition of one's own capabilities. This reflection is a vital part of experiential education.

Trust and empathy– abseiling and rock climbing require students to rely on each other for support as they help each other into their harnesses. They must encourage peers as they push themselves beyond their comfort zones and accept their own, personal challenges.

Communication and leadership– team activities such as tent set-up allow each individual to lead. Students must use a variety of communication techniques as well as listening skills to achieve their goal.

Decision making and fellowship– navigation activities call on students to master basic compass and map-reading skills. During a short bushwalking journey, they must work collaboratively and are encouraged to have confidence in their approach and decisions.
