Strengthen your students’ voices by enhancing their leadership skills
Every student has the potential to be a leader in some area of their life. However, many require guidance and space to exercise and hone their leadership skills. Learning a range of leadership skills and techniques from a young age can provide students with an excellent head start in life and allows them to develop confidence and improves their overall mental wellbeing.
Experiential learning is an effective method of fostering leadership skills. Our leadership incursions provide a space for your students to understand their strengths and weaknesses so that they can approach their goals with confidence. Build on your student's leadership skills through a series of fun and engaging outdoor activities focusing on communication, trust and collaboration, without having to leave the school grounds.
Because each young learner is unique, our programming allows for peaks, valleys, turbulence, excitement, periods of calm, and periods of activity. Students move through a sequence of outcome-based activities, prefaced with a briefing, and concluded with a debrief aimed toward self-reflection and recognition of one's own capabilities. This reflection is a vital part of experiential education.
Trust and empathy activities - group activities in which students must rely on each other to overcome challenges, teaching them flexibility and social awareness. They are encouraged to attempt these activities twice to understand they can learn from error and to recognise each other's strengths.
Communication and leadership - small group activities in which effective communication is essential. Using the learnings from the previous session, student's must give and follow instructions, highlighting the importance of active listening and adaptive communication.
Decision making and problem-solving - Students are challenged with applying the trust and communication learnings from previous sessions to overcome obstacles. They must work collaboratively and are encouraged to have confidence in their approach and decisions while allowing each group member to take the lead.
