FUN AND FRIENDSHIP

For young people, making friends is a vital part of growing up and an essential part of their emotional and social development. Friendships enable them to learn more about themselves and develop their own identity. Qualities such as social competence, self-esteem, altruism and self-confidence are all positively correlated to the forging and maintaining of strong friendships.

However, it is not always easy for young people to know how to manage friendships. Inspire strong and positive relationships among your students by building on their communication skills and increasing trust. Guide them in understanding the importance of co-operation, empathy, communication and listening. Re-energise your students in a positive outdoor environment, without having to leave the school grounds.

AN EXAMPLE OF WHAT'S ON OFFER

Because each young learner is unique, our programming allows for peaks, valleys, turbulence, excitement, periods of calm, and periods of activity. Students move through a sequence of outcome-based activities, prefaced with a briefing, and concluded with a debrief aimed toward self-reflection and recognition of one's own capabilities. This reflection is a vital part of experiential education.

Trust and empathy – small group initiatives in which students must rely on each other to overcome obstacles and reach a common goal. They are encouraged to attempt these activities twice to understand they can learn from error and to recognise each other's strengths.

Communication – a series of activities that require students to adapt their communication style and listen. Students connect in new ways by using learnings from the previous session and exploring the most effective way to communicate with their peers.

Fun and friendship – large group activities with an emphasis on building strong relationships and having fun. Students learn to accept personal challenges and understand the importance of encouraging teammates.
