Deepen your students’ connection to nature by encouraging exploration and discovery

Incursions - Environmental Image 2

Today, many young people are glued to their screens. They are far removed from all the natural world has to offer, resulting in a lack of knowledge in biodiversity and awareness of its importance and role it will play in their futures.

Our environmental connection incursions are an ideal way to integrate academic disciplines and the social growth of young people while promoting the importance of conserving our natural environment. Without leaving the school grounds, inspire your students to explore, and develop their own personal relationship with the natural world. Build on their sense of social and personal responsibility. Shape students who are connected with nature; who will want to enjoy it and feel determined to preserve it – now and into the future too.

Because each young learner is unique, our programming allows for peaks, valleys, turbulence, excitement, periods of calm, and periods of activity. Students move through a sequence of outcome-based activities, prefaced with a briefing, and concluded with a debrief aimed toward self-reflection and recognition of one's own capabilities. This reflection is a vital part of experiential education.

Environmental awareness – during tent set-up and bushcraft sessions, students learn about minimal-impact camping and sustainable practices which they can apply to their day-to-day lives.

Communication – a series of activities require students to adapt their communication style and listen. They are encouraged to attempt these activities twice to understand they can learn from error and to recognise each other's strengths.

Social and personal responsibility – large group activities focused on helping students understand how their decisions and actions affect the environment. They will develop the knowledge and skills necessary to address environmental issues.
