CONNECT STUDENTS AND SCHOOL STAFF

Young learners spend a significant amount of time in the classroom, which is a wonderful environment for building lasting connections, both among peers and between students and school staff. However, often students can feel invisible and isolated in their schools.

Our incursions in connecting students and school staff give students opportunities to explore bonds, build trust and improve their problem-solving and communication skills. They will learn about each other, themselves and their teachers and discover productive and creative ways of working together. Allow your student to explore personal and social responsibility, while promoting a sense of belonging, connectedness and acceptance by peers, without leaving the school grounds.

AN EXAMPLE OF WHAT'S ON OFFER

Because each young learner is unique, our programming allows for peaks, valleys, turbulence, excitement, periods of calm, and periods of activity. Students move through a sequence of outcome-based activities, prefaced with a briefing, and concluded with a debrief aimed toward self-reflection and recognition of one's own capabilities. This reflection is a vital part of experiential education.

Trust and empathy activities - group activities in which students must rely on each other to overcome challenges, teaching them flexibility and social awareness. They are encouraged to attempt these activities twice to understand they can learn from error and to recognise each other's strengths.

Communication and leadership - small group activities in which effective communication is essential. Using the learnings from the previous session, student's must give and follow instructions, highlighting the importance of active listening and adaptive communication.

Decision making and problem-solving - Students are challenged with applying the trust and communication learnings from previous sessions to overcome obstacles. They must work collaboratively and are encouraged to have confidence in their approach and decisions.
