Prepare your students for the adventure ahead by increasing their self-confidence and tapping into their inner explorer
Our outdoor education experiences provide a stepping-stone for young learners to stretch their wings and explore and learn beyond their homes and classrooms. To best prepare them when they head out on their journey, we invite your students to become familiar with key elements like packing, food prep and putting up their tent.
Our adventure-ready incursions provide a hands-on experience, allowing your students to adjust to the outdoor classroom while reducing the sense of the unknown. Without leaving the school grounds, your students can acquaint themselves with our Outdoor Educators, our equipment, and understand what to expect from their upcoming adventure.
Inspire your students to embrace their independence and understand the importance of personal and social responsibility. Boost their confidence by introducing them to the skills which will empower them to engage, fully, in their outdoor education experience. Enhance your outdoor education program with our supplementary adventure-ready incursions.
Because each young learner is unique, our programming allows for peaks, valleys, turbulence, excitement, periods of calm, and periods of activity. Students move through a sequence of outcome-based activities, prefaced with a briefing, and concluded with a debrief aimed toward self-reflection and recognition of one's own capabilities. This reflection is a vital part of experiential education.
Through a series of fun group activities, your students will be provided with an introduction or a refresher course in:
• Shelters - tent building, tarp shelters, knot tying
• Packing - day-pack preparation and correct packing, sleeping bag and dry bag packing
• Food - preparation, meal planning, camp cooking and Trangia safety
• Navigation - topographic map and compass reading, route planning
• Recognising risks – hygiene, snake encounters, personal welfare, tree checks and what to do if you get lost
Throughout these sessions, students are tasked with taking on roles and responsibilities, problem-solving and practising various styles of communication.
