Ever wanted to go on an overnight bushwalk but weren’t sure where to start? Now is the perfect time to discover the joys of outdoor family adventure.
While many students get to try the often lifechanging experience of an overnight bushwalk journey with The Outdoor Education Group, this Introduction to Bushwalking Journey offers a unique opportunity for families to share in the adventure. It is also a great way to: try out overnight bushwalking without needing ‘all the gear’, learn new skills and explore the outdoors with your own professional guide.
The journey has been designed to be suitable for families with primary and secondary school-aged children, moderate levels of fitness and a willingness to work together as a team.
This Bushwalking Journey explores our stunning bushland property “Biloela” nestled in the heart of the beautiful Southern Highlands of NSW (less than 2hrs south of Sydney or north of Canberra).
The adventure begins at the staging area in the Belanglo State Forest at 9:30am (keep an eye out for wild emu and deer on the drive in!). You will have the opportunity to pack and carry a lightweight hiking backpack or your gear will be shuttled to the campsite. Your guide will work with you to determine the best route into camp based on your family's ages, skill level and fitness. This walk will take 2-3 approx. hours and will deliver you into the heart of the Biloela property.
On arrival at the camp site you will establish your camp for the evening and have lunch before commencing the afternoon bushwalk through the Rainforest Wander taking afternoon tea on the banks of the Wingecarribee River. The walk will take between 3 – 3.5 hours before returning to camp and some time to explore the lush banks of the Wingecarribee River, play some games or just kick back and relax. Keep your eye out for local wildlife including platypuses.
In the evening you will enjoy a delicious dinner prepared by our team and settle in for a night of family fun around the campfire.
In the morning you will pack down the camp ad have a campfire breakfast before commencing the walk back to your vehicle via one of two routes, where we say our farewell.
$120 per participant, with a minimum booking of 4 participants.
