Helping young Australians get real world ready

The Outdoor Education Group marked its 40th anniversary in late 2024 with an event that brought together more than 250 past and present team members and supporters from the community. It was special night with historical displays to rewind time and live music, food trucks, and pre-recorded messages from ex - OEG staff working in Antarctica to tie it all together.
The gathering was held at our original campsite on the banks of Victoria’s Goulburn River near Eildon. While this place has been OEG’s home for 40 years, it’s also been home to countless people over the centuries, and we were so lucky to be able to gather on Taungurung land. Thank you to Uncle Shane for the Welcome to Country.
It was such a pleasure to catch up with people from every decade of OEG’s history, including our founder, Tony Pammer and first employee, Faye Atkinson, among so many others. The OEG community is a diverse one, united by a common goal to improve the lives of people through facilitated outdoor experiences that develop personal capacity, build community and connect with the natural world.
Some comments from the night:
“What an incredible resource of people OEG has had access to across 4 decades… the best and brightest are world-class”.
“Really appreciated the chance to re-connect with the OEG alumni and current people!”
"Kudos OEG for a stellar celebration"
"Very glad I made it!"
Thanks to everyone who made the night such a special one, including those that travelled to Eildon from as far away as the USA.
We’d love to stay in touch with our ‘alumni’ group – whether you made it to the 40th or not. Please take a moment to leave your contact details so we can keep you in the loop for future events, newsletters and updates.
